tudlaNovember 16, 2004, seven people died at the picketlines of Hacienda Luisita, Philippines. On strike were thousands of millworkers and farmworkers of the sugar refinery and plantation controlled by the Cojuangco-Aquino family, kin of current Philippine President Benigno Aquino III and one of the wealthiest and oldest landed families in the country. Their demands were met with a volley of bullets from the police and military.

The story of Hacienda Luisita is the story of social injustice in the Philippines.
